What to Expect: Your Veranda Project Timeline From Enquiry to Completion

A transparent, step-by-step guide to how your veranda project unfolds

The short version: A standard veranda project follows 8 key stages — Initial Enquiry, Site Survey, Detailed Quote, Order & Scheduling, Pre-Installation Prep, Installation Day, Handover, and After-Care. Most projects take 8–10 weeks from first conversation to finished veranda.

One of the most common frustrations we hear from people who’ve dealt with other companies is being left in the dark. They paid a deposit weeks ago and have no idea what’s happening. They were told “six to eight weeks” and it’s been twelve. Nobody’s returning their calls.

That’s not how we work. Here’s exactly what happens at each stage of your veranda project — with realistic timescales and no sugarcoating.

Stage 1Initial Enquiry and Conversation

What happens: You get in touch — by phone, email, or through our website. We have an initial conversation about what you’re looking for, your property, your budget, and your timeline. This is a two-way conversation, not a sales pitch.

How long it takes: Usually 15–30 minutes for the initial conversation.

What you’ll come away with: A clear idea of which models and specifications suit your requirements, a realistic budget range, and an understanding of the next steps. If we don’t think a veranda is the right solution for your situation, we’ll tell you that too.

No pressure: We won’t ask you to “book a survey to secure a discount” or push for a commitment. Take as much time as you need. You can even skip this stage entirely and use our Online Prices to get an instant price without speaking to anyone first.

Stage 2Site Survey

What happens: We arrange a convenient time to survey your property. This involves measuring the installation area, checking the fixing wall, assessing drainage, examining ground conditions, noting the position of doors, windows, pipes, and anything that might affect post placement.

How long it takes: The survey itself typically takes 30–60 minutes. We aim to schedule surveys within one to two weeks of your initial enquiry, depending on your availability and our diary.

What you’ll come away with: Confidence that the project is feasible, identification of any groundwork requirements, and all the information needed to produce your final quote.

Stage 3Detailed Quote

What happens: Based on the survey, we produce a detailed written quote covering the exact specification — model, dimensions, roof type, colour, number of posts, any side options, and optional extras. One price, inclusive of supply, installation, and VAT.

How long it takes: We aim to have your quote to you within three to five working days of the survey.

What you’ll come away with: A clear, itemised breakdown of exactly what you’re getting and what it costs. No hidden extras, no vague line items. If groundwork is needed, that’s quoted separately and clearly. For an idea of pricing before your survey, our online quoter gives you an instant estimate.

Take your time: There’s no expiry date on our quotes and no “sign today” pressure. We typically hold pricing for 30 days, and if material costs change significantly after that, we’ll explain why.

Stage 4Order and Scheduling

What happens: Once you’re happy with the quote, we take a 50% deposit to secure your order and trigger manufacturing. We then place the order with the supplier and arrange a confirmed installation date.

How long it takes: Lead times vary by system and demand. As a realistic guide:

  • British-made systems (Haven, Pavilion, Vista, Harbour): typically 4–8 weeks from order to delivery. These are bespoke-cut to your exact specification, which is why they take a little longer.
  • Dutch-made systems (Bolthole, Sanctuary, Horizon, Portico): typically 4–6 weeks from order to delivery.

We’ll give you a specific estimated delivery date when you place your order, and update you if anything changes.

What you’ll come away with: A confirmed installation date (or installation window), a clear understanding of payment terms, and a point of contact for any questions.

The timeline from here is in your hands. Some customers order the same week as their survey. Others take a few weeks to think it over. Either is absolutely fine — the manufacturing clock starts when you place your order, not before.

Stage 5Pre-Installation Preparation

What happens: A few days before installation, we confirm the date and talk through anything you need to do to prepare — clearing the patio area, ensuring access for delivery vehicles, moving any garden furniture or obstacles.

How long it takes: A brief phone call or email, usually one to two days before installation.

What you need to do: Clear the area where the veranda will be installed. Ensure there’s vehicle access for the delivery — the aluminium profiles and glass panels arrive on a dedicated delivery vehicle. If groundwork is being done first, this will be scheduled separately and completed before the veranda installation date.

A further 40% of the contract value is due at this stage, when the goods arrive at our warehouse and before installation begins.

Stage 6Installation Day(s)

What happens: Our installation team arrives, unloads the materials, and begins fitting the veranda. They’ll fix the wall bar, set the posts, assemble the frame, install the roof panels, fit the guttering, and connect any integrated lighting.

How long it takes:

  • Small to medium verandas (up to 6m × 3m): usually completed in one day
  • Larger verandas (6m+ × 4m+): typically one to two days
  • Complex installations with side options: two to three days

The team will keep the work area as tidy as possible and clear away all packaging and waste at the end of the job.

What you can expect: Professional, respectful tradespeople who communicate clearly, work efficiently, and treat your property with care. If anything unexpected comes up during installation — which is rare but possible — they’ll discuss it with you immediately rather than making decisions without your input.

Stage 7Handover and Sign-Off

What happens: Once installation is complete, the team will walk you through the finished structure. They’ll show you how everything works — drainage, lighting controls, how to clean the roof — and answer any questions. You inspect the work and sign off once you’re satisfied.

How long it takes: 15–30 minutes.

The final 10% of the contract value is due at this point, once you’re happy with the finished work.

What you’ll come away with: A completed veranda you’re happy with, care and maintenance instructions, warranty documentation, and the knowledge that if anything needs attention, you know who to call.

Stage 8After-Care

What happens: We don’t disappear after installation. If you notice anything in the weeks following installation — a minor adjustment needed, a question about care, or any concern at all — get in touch. We’re here to help.

We also check in with you after a few weeks to make sure everything is performing as expected, particularly after the first heavy rain — the acid test for any outdoor structure.

Realistic Total Timeline

From initial enquiry to enjoying your finished veranda:

Scenario Typical timeframe Notes
Straightforward projects 6–8 weeks Quick decision, available stock
Most projects 8–10 weeks Standard lead times, normal scheduling
Busy periods 10–12 weeks Spring/summer demand for surveys and installation slots

If you’re planning a veranda for a specific event — a summer party, a milestone birthday, or simply to enjoy the best of the weather — the earlier you start the conversation, the more flexibility we have on scheduling.

What Won’t Happen

We think it’s just as important to tell you what we won’t do:

  • We won’t pressure you at any stage
  • We won’t go silent after taking your deposit
  • We won’t surprise you with costs that weren’t in the quote
  • We won’t send an installation team that doesn’t know your project
  • We won’t make you chase us for updates — we’ll proactively keep you informed

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a veranda installed from start to finish?

Typically 8–10 weeks from initial enquiry to completed installation. This includes the survey, quoting, manufacturing lead time, and installation. The actual installation usually takes one to three days.

When is the best time to order a veranda?

Autumn and winter are the quietest periods, meaning shorter lead times and more flexibility on installation dates. Spring and summer are busiest. If you want your veranda ready for summer, starting the conversation in late winter or early spring gives the most comfortable timeline. For more on this, see our guide to spring veranda planning.

What deposit is required?

We take a 50% deposit when you confirm your order, 40% when the goods arrive at our warehouse (before installation), and the final 10% on completion once you’re happy with the finished work.

Will I be kept informed during the wait?

Yes. We provide updates at key milestones — order confirmation, estimated delivery date, and installation scheduling. If there are any delays, we tell you immediately with a revised timeline.

What if I need to change my specification after ordering?

Minor changes may be possible depending on where the manufacturing process is. We’ll always try to accommodate changes, but once production has started, some modifications may not be feasible. It’s best to be sure of your specification before confirming the order.
