In the Bristol area we regularly install across the BS postcode district, which covers Bristol city itself plus three neighbouring council areas: North Somerset (Portishead, Clevedon, Weston-super-Mare, Nailsea), South Gloucestershire (Yate, Thornbury, Chipping Sodbury, Filton) and parts of Bath & North East Somerset. Bristol planning permission — what you need to know

Most modern aluminium verandas in Bristol fall under Permitted Development rights — no formal planning application required. The usual exceptions apply: listed buildings, conservation areas and raised platforms above 30 cm all typically need consent.

Unlike a single-council city, the Bristol area is served by three separate local planning authorities depending on your exact address — Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council or South Gloucestershire Council. Each has its own interpretation of Permitted Development, which occasionally makes a material difference on borderline cases. Bristol's climate and the case for marine-grade coating

Bristol averages around 950mm of rainfall a year — slightly above the UK average. The main practical case for a veranda here is the same as anywhere in the UK: extending usable outdoor time in a country where the weather is unpredictable for much of the year.

What makes Bristol unusual is the Severn Estuary. Properties genuinely close to the Bristol Channel — Portishead seafront, Clevedon, Weston-super-Mare, parts of Avonmouth — carry a measurable salt-air load that accelerates corrosion on standard powder-coated aluminium over decades. For those properties we'd recommend one of our three British-built models (Haven, Pavilion, Vista), which come with QUALICOAT Seaside marine-grade coating as standard — the highest UK durability class, etched to roughly twice the depth of standard finishes and specifically developed for salt-exposed environments. For inland Bristol, standard coating is fine.

How the installation process works

The same process applies wherever you are in the UK:

• 1. Enquiry & indicative quote — fill in the online quote form or call us. We send a written quote within 24 hours based on your chosen size and roof type.
• 2. Free on-site survey — we check fixing points, planning status, access, ground conditions, and confirm the final price and lead time.
• 3. Order and manufacture — 2–4 weeks depending on model (British-built models are typically faster to ship than Dutch).
• 4. Installation — 1–3 days on site.
• 5. Aftercare — ongoing support if you want to add side options, LED lighting or heating later.
