Verandas across Bridgend, Porthcawl and the CF31–CF36 area

The Good Veranda Company installs verandas, garden rooms and carports across the whole UK. The veranda product and standard installation cost the same in Bridgend as anywhere else — we don't charge a location-based premium. The live prices on our Verandas hub apply whether your install is in Bridgend, Inverness or anywhere in between.*

*Occasionally additional work is needed — for example, to install around an existing downpipe or flue. Any such site-specific extras are quoted separately at survey.

In the Bridgend area we regularly install across the CF31–CF36 postcode district: Bridgend town, Porthcawl, Maesteg, Pencoed, Pyle and Kenfig Hill, plus the villages of the Llynfi, Garw and Ogmore valleys. Bridgend County Borough Council is the main local authority. We also cover Cardiff (25 minutes east) and Swansea (25 minutes west) as part of the same M4 corridor.

Bridgend planning permission — what you need to know

Most modern aluminium verandas in Bridgend fall under Permitted Development rights — no formal planning application required. Bridgend County Borough Council is the local planning authority; the usual exceptions apply for listed buildings, conservation areas (including parts of central Bridgend town and some Porthcawl seafront areas) and any raised platform more than 30 cm above ground level.

We check your property's specific planning status as part of the free survey before you commit — including whether you're in a conservation area — and tell you honestly what's possible. For the full technical rules, see our Veranda planning permission UK guide.

Bridgend's climate — inland vs coastal considerations

Bridgend averages around 1,000mm of rainfall a year, similar to neighbouring Cardiff and slightly above the UK average. The weather-protection case for a veranda is strong across the whole CF31–CF36 area — this is Wales, the rain is predictable.

What's different within the Bridgend area is coastal exposure. Porthcawl and the surrounding seafront (Trecco Bay, Rest Bay, Newton) sit directly on the Bristol Channel, and properties there carry a measurable salt-air load that accelerates corrosion on standard powder-coated aluminium over time. For those addresses we'd recommend one of our British-built models with QUALICOAT Seaside marine-grade coating as standard. For inland Bridgend town, Maesteg and the valley settlements, standard Dutch models are perfectly fine.
